This blend of roasted green tea, popped rice and toasty apples is a bit of a tea Marmite. Some are addicted to its grassy, savoury taste but it's not for those with a sweet tooth. Don't worry though, Genmaicha fans will absolutely love Bird & Blend's unique twist on the classic Japanese 'popcorn' tea.

1 heaped teaspoon per cup, 80° water, 3 mins, No milk.
Bird & Blend's perfect tea spoon and in-cup infuser basket (fits all cups and pots) are the ideal tea tools to make your perfect cup of tea.

I think I am becoming addicted to this tea. I tried green tea with rice in Japan and loved it. I was doubtful about the addition of the apples but simply love this tea. It has become my afternoon pick-me up. Not as grassy as a matcha tea.

Perfect comforting brew

I love a genmaicha, with its subtle, earthy taste and toasty overtones. I wasn't sure whether it needed anything adding to it but the apple works perfectly!
Crisp and Refreshing
It really captures the taste of an apple, with all the good feelings of drinking a cup of green tea. It's light, it's refreshing, and it's very smooth. Best of all, it leaves you with a fresh crisp taste like when you first bite into an apple. Easily one of my favorite teas.
I am addicted to this tea
The taste of toasted apple and popped rice complements each other perfectly while being underlined by a rich green tea base.
Green tea with a twist
Tend to drink this a couple of hours before meals so I can enjoy the full benefits of the green tea. Rich popcorn taste with a distinct apple flavour. If you are a fan of green tea it's definitely worth trying!
Not much apple flavor
The toasted rice flavor really overpowers the apple in this tea. The apple is in the background which is a lot better than most apple teas but it's very subtle.
Needs more apple!
This one sounded intriguing – genmaicha with apple. I like both of those things, so into my order it went.
This actually came out a bit bitter, which surprises me. It’s not undrinkable, but next time I would shorten the steep to 2 minutes. It has a very toasty flavor from the rice and green tea definitely packs a punch of umami as well. I can just barely taste the apple through the stronger flavors. Really, I would love more apple here.
I do really like genmaicha, but this one isn’t that memorable to me. Tasty though! I prefer B&B’s Bristol Breeze for an apply green tea.

I’ve been looking for a Green Tea for ages which I actually enjoy drinking and have finally found it . I new family favourite!
My favourite of all the teas!
Lovely; tastes like popcorn sprinkled with cinnamon apples! Its difficult to describe - probably a more acquired taste but I adore the toasty/popcorny notes of a genmaicha but with a genius apple twist. Please do not discontinue this ever.
Toasted Apple Tea
Absolutely amazing! The mellowness of the genmaicha is the first thing you taste with the apple lingering on your tongue after. Amazingly comorting and makes you feel warm and snug whilst snuggled up in the cold weather ☆

Not usually a fan of green tea but this is yum. Nice hint of apple and nutty tones. Highly recommend trying.

Nice solid, satisfying cup of tea
This is a thoroughly satisfying tea. The popped rice gives it lovely depth and every sip produces a wonderful toasted aroma in the back of the palate. Normally I prefer fruitier teas but this blend has a lovely light undertone of apple which will more than satisfy any sweet tooth. I agree with other reviewers; a longer brew brings too much bitterness and toasted flavour overwhelming the green tea but be quick and you'll be rewarded....Read more

I love genmaicha so the apple is a bonus. Really nice but make sure its only brewed for three minutes gets bitter when left longer but most greens are
Perfect balance but DO NOT OVERBREW!
Really yummy tea. Definitely savoury. I'm normally a fan of sweeter teas but I was very pleasantly surprised with this one. Very well balanced - just be careful to stick to brewing requirements - leave it in too long and it can get a bit of a strong after-tang!
