A message from our Co-Founders, Krisi & Mike:
Many of our longer-standing friends & customers will know that the materialistic madness of Black Friday weekend doesn't really align with our ethics. Yes, we run a business and yes, we both want and need to make a profit, but we pride ourselves in doing business the right way & using some of that profit & reach to positively impact the world around us as we do so.
That is why this Black Friday weekend you won't see us shouting loudly about discounted prices or special promos, instead we've decided to use our platform to shout about some incredible independent businesses that we have had the pleasure of meeting along our own start up journey.
As fellow indies, we understand the love, passion, drive & determination that it takes to set up your business. Anyone who has the guts to follow their dream & is throwing everything they've got to survive this year has our utmost respect and admiration. As do all of you lovely lot who have made such an effort to support your favourite independent businesses' this year.
Indie businesses are unique and interesting, they are an asset to any neighbourhood and community, brightening up the streets and creating life and personality. With independent producers, you can really see the time, care and quality that they have put into the products, it is so often a reflection of themselves. Hand-made by them, giving the personal touch to ensure you get products & gifts that you wouldn't find on Amazon or your local supermarket.
Join me (Krisi) tomorrow and Saturday for our Independent Christmas Makers Market, designed to be a virtual version of your favourite local Christmas craft fair or market. I'll be speaking to seven incredible independent businesses owners at their 'stalls', from party store to pet cafe, bloody marys to blooming marvellous beads, these guys will be sharing the behind the scenes secrets of their business journies & giving us a glimpse into the wonderful world of a Maker's Christmas.
This year, more than ever, it is so so important that we put our hard earned cash in the pockets of those that we want to not only survive but thrive, when we emerge from this incredibly challenging time (hopefully soon!).
