Our Pride Box!
Hey, Teabirds! The 29th of July marks the lauch of this years Pride Box! The delicious cuppas inside are helping to support a fantastic cause, Albert Kennedy Trust; the national LGBTQ+ youth homelessness charity, which focuses on prevention and early action, by providing safe homes, mentoring, training, advocacy, and support to young people who are homeless or living in hostile environments.
Albert Kennedy Trust
Albert Kennedy Trust was founded in 1989, and operates service centres in London, Manchester, Newcastle, and across the UK through its digital service, inter-AKT. At Bird & Blend we are so happy to be able to support the charity’s national reach, and to help them maintain the incredible impact that they have across communities! In 2017, AKT secured 6075 nights of safe accommodation, and supported 82% of young LGBTQ+ people into safe homes.
The work of AKT is crucially important across the UK, where 24% Of young homeless people identify as LGBT, and 77% of those youths identify familial rejection and abuse as the primary cause of homelessness.
