ChariTEA : The Real Junk Food Project

ChariTEA : The Real Junk Food Project

Our chosen chariTEA this quarter...

The Real Junk Food Project Brighton is part of the Real Junk Food Project network, created by Adam Smith. It is a national and international movement of cafes, projects and pop-ups with one core objective: To intercept food waste destined for land fill and use it to feed people who need it, on a ‘pay as you feel’ basis.

Every weekday they pop up in various community locations around Brighton, including One Church every Friday, just around the corner from our Brighton store in the North Laine.

Why are they special to Bird & Blend?

Here at Bird & Blend we have a zero waste policy so we recycle and compost all of our waste, including cardboard, cups and of course tea leaves! We love the concept of intercepting and reducing food waste.

What do they aim to use the money raised for?

The Real Junk Food Project is run by passionate volunteers who do an incredible amount of cooking and hard work to make sure everything runs smoothly. They will use the money we raise to go towards their daily running costs to feed even more bellies rather than bins, and work towards their goal of having a permanent café.
